Mr. Mike's Layout Project

This layout construction project was commissioned by one of our long time customers Mr. Mike.

Over the years the Apponaug Color Shop has helped design and build layouts for our customers when scheduling permits. At the time these initial photos were taken, Steve Mason had been working on this job full time for over two months, and work will most likely continue for several more months before all the various phases of the project have been completed. Mr. Mike has what could conservatively be called one of New England's largest collections of trains, slot cars, and "Department 56" buildings.

 

This collection is the stuff that little boys & girls dreams are made of and Mr. Mike has had his collection featured by the news media both in print and on television. The section that is currently under construction, one of three separate areas, is approximately 16 by 50 feet.

 

Phase One

There is over 600 feet of GarGraves “O” gauge rail road track on AMI instant roadbed. You can also see 4 complete layouts of “Scalextric” 1/32 scale slot car track. We figure that’s about 200 feet of car track. Just look at the photos...
